The 5P Approach Consultancy offers a range of services based upon the philosophy of the 5P Approach
Although originally placing its focus on autism and related disorders, as the 5P Approach has developed and expanded, it is increasingly used as a framework for good practice and as a general preventative approach to behaviour intervention for individuals with a range of needs. The 5P Approach has now been adopted as a complete preventative intervention framework with pre-school and school aged children and with young adults in a variety of care and educational setting settings.
5P Approach Consultancy offers services for nurseries, schools & colleges, parents & carers,care homes, Local Authorities and other organisations. The service also offers a range of training courses.
How does 5P Approach Consultancy work?
In line with the 5P Approach philosophy, all consultancy work places an emphasis on prevention and best practice. The focus is therefore on creating an environment (Green Zone) which meets individuals’ (and/or the organisation's) needs and prevents issues from arising. The 5P Approach problem-solving framework is used to look at any issues which arise and to create an Intervention Hierarchy ( 5P behaviour Plan) setting out Green (preventative) Amber (pre-emptive) and Red (reactive) strategies.
Emphasis is placed on training and empowering staff teams to increase their skills and confidence in working with individuals with ASD or other needs and to ensure effective teamwork. Emphasis is also placed on supporting the individual to develop skills and independence.
Although the 5P Approach can be used to create a positive intervention plan ("Working with me") for individuals or to problem-solve and plan for any difficulties that may arise, it is now more commonly adopted by organisations as their guiding framework and philosophy and to drive the development of best practice in autism and /or behaviour intervention and to ensure positive wellbeing.

- Advice and support to staff on behaviour issues using the 5P Approach problem-solving framework
- Advice and supporting on creating Green Zones which meet individuals’ needs
- Design and implementation of 5P Approach interventions ( creating a “Working with Me” pack)
- Direct work with staff teams, modelling strategies and providing resources
- Direct work with individuals ( with a view to transferring strategies to in-house staff)
- Advice to parents & carers & home based intervention planning
- Providing training on the 5P Approach for groups associated with the organisation e.g. parents/carers, support services, other establishments etc.
